# Profiles

There are no accounts on Bextree — but there is identity. The first time you place a signed bid or list an asset, Bextree automatically creates a lightweight **public profile** for your wallet with an auto-generated username (something like "SilentOak247").

## What a profile is

* A human-readable identity layer over a wallet address, at `bextree.com/u/<username>`.
* Optionally customizable: add a bio, location, or handle from your account settings.
* A public record of marketplace activity.

## What a profile is not

* **Not private.** There's no way to make a profile private — it's a simple identity layer, not a social feed. Anything visible on a profile is derived from activity that's already public on-chain or in the marketplace.
* **Not an account.** No password, no email, no recovery flow. Control of the wallet is control of the profile.
